The Challenges and the Beauty of the High Frequency Electronics
As a hobby electronics enthusiast or an engineer probably you heard a lot about high frequencies and it’s impact on the circuit and the materials. Today I would like to talk about these challenges and why it is so important to understand it.
With the development of the technology, the data we should deal with increases and we need more speed to process it. As a result new circuits are designed which can work in GHz speed. Also high frequencies should be considered in communication and antennas, which makes it possible to send more data with less loss.
However, all these implementations come with several challenges. Firstly, the high frequency changes the way of simplified working of materials and adds undesired effects like noise and parasitic elements. This can be underestimated at first look, but if you look for speed and accuracy you can’t skip these details.
Another concern is heat and power which can be bigger with higher frequencies. In order to solve this, efficient materials and heat resistant components should be used.
Also not forget to mention is the motion of the electrons. Especially with higher frequencies we can observe the importance of the wire routing and dielectric of the material.
